DEMONS HISTORY: Demons have been on this earth as long as humans and animals have, perhaps even before mankind was born. The early days were terrible; demons ruled the land, and men were their slaves and playthings. However, as the human race grew in numbers, the Old Ones began to lessen because of fighting over territory and grudges. Therefore, they soon found themselves to be on the brink of extinction, and this was when the humans started to fight back - not only human beings, but the gifted humans blessed with powers as well. Desperate, they forcibly mixed their blood with humans to create demon hybrids, such as vampires, and others, such as succubi and incubi. Pure demons are rare nowadays, and almost all are hybrid demons. They all have a myriad of appearances and abilities. Like vampires, they can hold human appearance, but are not dependent on blood to survive, unless of course, they like the taste. Modern day demons usually still hold an intense hatred for human beings for taking down their ancestors, but they are biologically capable of mating with them, as these demons do are, marginally and technically, part human (though most would never admit it). STRENGTHS: Intense physical strength and speed at the least. The different traits and attributes are free for you to choose (but nothing too super strong!). They can live up to hundreds of years old. WEAKNESSES: As they grow older, their human façade will eventually fade, and it will be harder and harder for them to hold their human face. NOTE: If you need help thinking up a certain type of demon, check here or feel free to ask one of your friendly mods! VAMPIRES HISTORY: Vampires have long had a bloody stake in history. They can trace their birth to when the Old Ones forcibly mated with humans, giving them their blood in a desperate attempt to increase their lessening numbers. Soon the vampires arose, a unique demon hybrid. Although vampires keep themselves from being known to the general population, throughout history human beings have discovered their presence, although their claims about their being have been dead accurate to preposterous due to mass hysteria. In Europe, at the height of vampire fear, they were called various different things, as vampir (Serbian), vrykolakas (Greek), jiāngshī (Chinese), and strigoi (Romanian). The vampires in the game are very much like the vampires in legend, save for the fear of running water, garlic, silver, and a penchant for coffins. A constant question that plagues the vampires is: do they actually have souls? As they are technically dead, the slayer and hunters vehemently say no, these are undead creatures with no soul and conscious, vicious things that have to be put down. However, the vampires that actually do care about this debate will say otherwise. As for surviving, naturally, all vampires need to drink blood. They are capable of devouring human food and drink, but to truly live, they need blood to sustain their reanimated bodies. Human blood, with its life force is typically the food of choice, but some opt for animal blood instead, although it is said to be less satisfying and thinner than humans'. As for other demon and supernatural blood, vamps tend to stay away. Faeries and witch blood disorient them, however some acquire a strong taste for it, as it can have narcotic-like effects. STRENGTHS: As vampires are technically demons, they have the traits of their brethren. Super speed, strength, and advanced healing. They have enhanced senses, especially sight and smell, for spotting prey. Older vampires increase in power and senses, and will lessen in human appearance, looking more demonic as they age. When they're in vamp mode their fangs (two on each side) grow and their eyes darken intensely. WEAKNESSES: Vamps cannot go more than one week without feeding. Although they can walk into churches and other places of worship, they are repelled by holy relics; crosses and holy water will burn them. They have no reflection, although they can be photographed; additionally, they have no breath, and their skin will always be cold to the touch except just after feeding. Sunlight will set these creatures of the night on fire. To kill them - a wooden stake to the heart, beheading, fire, or a bullet to the heart or brain by a UV-ray bullet. At the moment of their second death, their body will instantly turn into ash. BIRTH/SIRING: Being turned into a vampire is called either being sired or "turned". Most vampires are very choosey as to who they sire but some are careless and do to further increase their numbers. When a vampire sires a human they start by drinking most of their human blood, leaving them barely hanging onto life. They then cut or bite a wound (most often their wrist) and let their own blood dribble into the human's mouth. Vampire blood taste bittersweet to a dying human and it's almost impossible to resist. After the human drinks a sufficent amount his or her body will die, aka become a lifeless corpse. It then takes seventy-two hours or three full days for the transformation to be complete. Burying the body in a coffin in the earth is useful but isn't nessecary. A newborn vampire is a lot more ravenous and crazed then the older ones since they have not learned to control the thirst. NOTES: Since vampires are technically dead they do not give off brain waves therefore telepathic people and faeries cannot hear their thoughts. That doesn't mean they don't have them because they do just as much if not more then any human, it just means they don't have brain waves. WEREWOLVES HISTORY: The beginnings of the werewolf can be traced back to the twin brothers Romulus and Remus, the legendary founders of Rome. The twins had been abandoned at birth and taken in by a wolf-mother. She raised them and they suckled from her, giving them a strange disorder causing them to change into violent beasts under the touch of the silver full moon. Eventually this gene was spread further, and hence, the birth of the werewolf. One may become a werewolf by being bitten by an already turned wolf or by being born to a werewolf mother. During the waxing and waning of the moon, the urge to change will be great, but it is only during the full moon then they cannot fight the full change. Newly turned wolfs are ruled by the wild beast inside, but in time they can learn to be one with the wolf. This is only after intensive training. There has been a long uneasy rivalry between the wolves and vampires. Werewolves age un-naturally slow. In fact, some of them live to be thousands of years old. The oldest living werewolf was said to be six thousand years old before being killed by a silver bullet. After being bitten or being born a wolf they will start to gradually almost stop aging or appear to. They stay young forever you might say, but they eventually do age. They however don't die of old age or there's no proven cases of it. They only die by accidents and silver. STRENGTHS: When they are in wolf mode, they're twice as big and twice as fast as a regular wolf, and are very strong, with razor sharp teeth. they are able to change at will and by the full moon the change is imment. WEAKNESSES: Silver in any form - silver bullets are the deadliest to them. Silver will burn and slice through the skin and fur when it comes in contact with any part of the werewolf in wolf mode, but silver through the heart is an instant death. MOON PHASES: IMPORTANT! Werewolves are ruled by the moon, naturally. They turn on the night of the first full moon, as soon as the sun has completely gone from the sky and stay in their wolf form until the sun has risen. Although the moon is only totally full one night it happens two nights after, as well. So in total they turn three times at the ful moon. For the Moon Phases pleases Click Here!! P/S Keep in mind the game is set in '09. WITCHES & WARLOCKS HISTORY: Magic has been around since before the beginning of man. There is magic everywhere and in everything. It is this essence that helped create life and it was only a matter of time before the power was harnessed. Not immediately by men, however, but women, she with her intuition and spirit, found that magic was not only empowering, but enlightening as well. Then man stole the power to use it for himself, hence the birth of warlocks. The witches and warlocks have been living in secret, observing the evolution of mankind. Besides true magic, they are able to absorb their energy from the earth and are very nature inclined. STRENGTHS: Spell casting, potion making, elemental manipulation. They may have some paranormal attributes as well, such as telekinesis and clairvoyance. WEAKNESSES: Basic human weaknesses. They do have a limited lifespan, slightly longer than the normal human being. SHAPE-SHIFTERS HISTORY: The history of shape-shifters has been changed and diluted so much that it is truly difficult to say for sure the true origin of these complex beings. Although the most common story told is that they derive from werewolves, a shared mutant gene being altered through the long years of evolution. Most shape-shifters claim that this is a mere old wives tale and that they are not, in fact, related to the more savage race. They have been around since the fall of the Roman Empire and the most common shifters turn into animals. However, there have been cases of people shifting into insects (arachnids) such as spiders and butterflies. Usually the animal (or in some cases insects/arachnids) take the form a an animal that reflects the person's personality. They can change at will and by the full moon. STRENGTHS: The power to change into one animal (or insect/arachnid) at will and by the full moon light. WEAKNESSES: Basic human weaknesses, and when they are in their animal state they can be susceptible to the same weaknesses as their animal counter part. FAERIES HISTORY: "…when the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies." And Sir J.M. Barrie wasn't very far from the truth when he wrote this. It turned out to be fact, and since then there have been faeries. And faeries have looked out for the race of man always hidden almost like angels. Acting as doctors or other types of philanthropists or as simply your friendly next door neighbor. Faeries come in shapes all shapes and sizes and can be compared to angels. They have unearthly beauty their eyes are also more bright than normal and they are some of the kindest of the supernaturals. Their creation was specifically for good deeds but over the years they have got a rather bad reputation due to the rebellion of many faeries. Both male and female faeries can live up to a hundred years old but their looks do not age after twenty-one, and their skin is almost always flawless. They also have wings that are glossy but stay hidden absorbed into their skin. When they are in their faerie form their skin glows either pink, purple, blue or green and their hair usually curls and brightens. If a human is around them for too long (hours at a time) they can grow dizzy and almost giddy. After they've been around them for too long it wears off and if a human lives with them it eventually stops all together. Their blood is like a drug for vampires and some become addicted to it since it causes a euphoric and narcotic like effect. STRENGTHS: Healing via energy waves, telepathy, precognition, empathy and feeling manipulation (can calm shocked or sad humans) flight by wings, and dream manipulation. WEAKNESSES: Iron (especially cold iron), decapitation. The blood of a demon will burn them. Draining all of their blood will also kill them, however they can sustain life with (very) less amount than a human. PARANORMALS HISTORY: It is a fact that there have always been gifted human beings, people that are more in-tuned with their psych than others. These have more control over their cognitive minds, and as such, have power that are far more advanced than their physical abilities. Note - these are not to be confused with witches or warlocks, although some paranormals can be trained in very basic magics. These people have been revered and awed throughout history, but do draw negativity. Their telepathic powers include psychokinesis, extra-sensory perception, precognition, pyrokinesis, and clairvoyance, and some either have one or combinations of these traits. Mind control is the rarest of their powers. Their acquisition of their powers are purely through genetics, although it has been said that a benevolent witch had granted a precocious group of humans with the gift of Sight, which has been passed down since. Some generations can be skipped with the power due to recessive genes; sometimes even up to six generations can be skipped before emerging again in a descendant. Telepathy can show up anywhere from when the person is a baby to late adolescence. STRENGTHS: The ability to use their mind for power - most notably telekinesis, as well as clairvoyance, and seeing things that most regular humans cannot. Their senses are heightened, although not terribly so, but they can sense when a vampire or demon is among them, giving them the "chills." Eyesight, hearing, and touch in particular are heightened. WEAKNESSES: They are indeed human, with all the same human weaknesses. Untrained paranormals can be a danger to themselves and others around them. SLAYERS & HUNTERS HISTORY: Since the age of man there has been evil. After the evil came the witches. The witches came up with the idea to endow the strongest and fastest of humans with special powers in order to fight the demons, to level the playing field. These people became the slayers and hunters of our age; there are always eight of them - four males and four females. They are born from the descendants of ancient hunters through the years and are trained for a period of one decade before being sent out into the dark. These people have no control over their destiny, it is etched in stone. They also must provide an heir to the cause by the age of thirty for the cause and to carry on the family "business". The choice of weaponry is entirely up to them, be it a samurai katana, sword, daggers, or a UV-ray gun, but they will always carry a sharpened stake or two. Note: females are called slayers, males hunters. STRENGTHS: Enhanced and heightened senses, super strength, and speed are all time times of an average person. Additionally, accelerated healing, intuition and perception, as well as prophetic dreams. WEAKNESSES: All basic human weaknesses, despite their enhanced abilities and physical strengths. NOTE: There is a cap on the slayers/hunters; eight only, meaning four girls and four boys. HUMANS HISTORY: Human beings, Homo sapians, have always prided themselves as the dominant beings, rulers of the earth and its animals. However, although they obviously lack the powers and stronger attributes of the shape-shifters, vampire, demons, faeries, witches/warlocks, slayers/hunters, and paranormals, it was because of their sheer numbers that kept the Old Ones at bay and the following descendants of the creatures of the night to emerge from the shadows. Some human beings have tried to take matters into their own hands upon the discover of their supernatural neighbors, and although most ended up disastrously, some have risen spectacularly to the occasion. Some societies have formed to aid the good fight, such as the Council, which aids the slayers and hunters. These are known as the White Hats, and are often researchers and expert demonologists. Conversely, humans who have these knowledge do not always use them for good - for example, the crooked LAPD and a most mysterious branch of the government that that cover up demon activity for "the greater good" of the public. STRENGTHS: They do have the ability to be braver, more understanding and accepting, as well as perceiving strange incidents, more so than most supernatural beings give them credit for. WEAKNESSES: When compared to the other supernatural beings, humans are, of course very, very weak, as they are not nearly strong, fast, or cognitively inclined. Also they tend to try and block things out, or rationalize strange occurrences or beings, and deny it, or even go out of their way to destroy it - hence the mass hysteria over werewolves, witchcraft, and vampires throughout history. |
